Whilst in December we would more traditionally take time to look back on the past year, reflecting on our achievements and celebrating our successes, in 2020 it feels more appropriate to quietly wave the year off with as little fanfare as possible, and instead look forward to the year to come.
So, with 2021 peeking over the horizon, here’s what we’re looking forward to the most…
Face-to-face meetings
For an agency supplying Virtual Assistants, that probably sounds a little counterintuitive! But 2020 was the year the rest of the world was forced to work remotely, something we were already more than used to, and we were very happy to pass on our Working From Home tips to friends and colleagues (“Get dressed, no telly, remember to take breaks” being the Top 3). However, there’s a marked difference between working from home because you choose to and working from home because you have to. We can’t wait till we can see people in real life again, as opposed to through a laptop screen, starting every conversation with ‘Can you hear me? I think you’re still on mute!’.
New toys
By which we mean new apps to help us work even more efficiently! We’ll be testing new apps and reviewing our favourites in the coming months, but there are a few we’re already looking forward to getting to grips within January. Watch this space to see which ones get the VAA seal of approval and let us know in the comments if there are any you think we ought to know about.
The great outdoors
One of the great unspoken perks of working virtually is the ability to work anywhere: there’s an almost illicit joy in being able to pick up your laptop and work in the park on a lovely summer afternoon whilst everyone else toils away in their cubicle! For those of us without gardens, this year really took its toll and so we’re looking forward to sneaking out as soon as it’s warm enough / we’re allowed to and resuming our regular team meetings with the local squirrels in the sunshine.
Embracing change
If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s to expect the unexpected. More companies realised this year that their workforce can be just as productive at home as when toiling away under the watchful gaze of their manager, and we think this is great news for the world of the Virtual Assistant. New beginnings
More so than any other year we can remember, it feels like 2021 is a golden opportunity for fresh starts and new, exciting challenges, so we’re taking the lessons learned from this schoolyard bully of a year and using them to our advantage. Whether that’s by finally getting a handle on the work/life balance, taking the plunge and investing in time-saving software that we’ve been putting off as an unnecessary expense, or just making the time to appreciate the simple things around us, we’re doing it!
